Hi! I’m Corinna.

I am a writer, a farmer, a partner, a friend, a lifelong learner and lover of life, and an advocate for reducing harm and growing good things wherever I go. I mean that literally, as in growing food out in the field, and metaphorically, as in growing healthy relationships and intentionally cultivating communal reciprocity and care.

I have been fortunate to have lived most of my life in some truly beautiful places, and I have let my curious nature lead me to a wide variety of jobs and workplaces.

I spent my formative years running barefoot around old growth forests in Washington state, and my adulthood moving between the Central Coast of California, the salty shores of Maui, and the dramatic front range of Boulder, Colorado.

I have traversed the worlds of farming, retail, corporate content and strategy, customer service, hospital kitchens, and even the fluff-and-fold counter at a laundromat once.

Through all that exploration, I discovered that, whether planting a row of beans, on a call with a customer, or folding a fitted sheet, the inherent value I bring to a task never falters. I bring my full self to everything I do.

I have a natural affinity for details balanced with the ability to zoom all the way out to see the greater goal. I am an attentive listener. I have an open heart.

I love farming dearly, but I am not interested in making it my livelihood – food should be free. I want to give away what I grow, not place market value on something the soil and rain and sun can cultivate with a little sweat from my brow and help from my hands. That’s not to say we shouldn’t be paying farm workers – we should. It’s just that for me farming is pure pleasure, and the food I grow is a gift.

Writing is also a pleasure, and one that I employ in various forms – poetry, journaling, blogging, and now grant writing. A recent GoodFoodJobs.com article asked readers to name their dream jobs and it reminded me – mine is writing. Now, I didn’t have any lofty ideas that I could whip up a bestseller before I need to pay next month’s bills, so I asked myself, “what could do with my love for writing that could directly and immediately support the people and causes I care about?”

Answer: Grant Writing.

Grant writing lets me work alongside passionate people helping build the world I want to live in, while finally centering writing as my career. It puts resources into the hands of the people I believe in most: the grassroots organizers, movers, shakers, and change-makers, while allowing me to do what I love. Together, with a little sweat from each other’s brow and help from each other’s hands, we can grow a great many good things.
